Onyx belongs to the quartz group of minerals. Black onyx owes its colouration to the presence of iron and carbon. In Peruvian and Native American tradition onyx symbolises initiation and change, as well as the power that comes from facing one’s fears and phobias, self-doubt and anxiety.
