Obsidian is a natural volcanic rock made in the process of cooling magma. It is regarded as a highly protective stone able to block, absorb, and transform negative energy. The obsidian used to create this mala is black with lustrous deep dark blue shades that can be seen in the close-up photos.

The mala is complemented with a beautifully carved guru bead made of sterling silver which has been plated with 14K gold-plated guru bead, and 14K gold-plated spacers.
